A Metaphysical Mystery
An interactive game/story played in real time.

Synopsis

Having lost consciousness in a hospital bed, a child awakens in an unfamiliar living-room.
From an adjoining room the sound of an elderly lady singing simple songs with unintelligible lyrics. She sounds harmless enough.
The child tentatively explores the room, discovering lots of useful things.
Eventually she meets the old lady, who introduces herself as “Aunty”.
The Lady is nice, she feeds the child milk and biscuits, although it is curious that the child can’t remember ever seeing this “aunt” before.
The child dreams, often. Always starting the same way, a dark room and a big staircase.
A few days later the Police call at the house, the child watches from the window, but she doesn’t call out.
It is fun here, and Aunty has got some reading books from the Library, although at first the child does not remember how to read the squiggles on the pages.
Soon, very soon, surprisingly soon, the child learns to read. Story books about ghosts and trolls, the newspaper with the headline that says MISSING in big writing on the front (the child is surprised to see a picture of herself beneath that headline) she also reads Aunty’s old hidden love letters, found in a shoebox in the under-stairs cupboard.
She also reads Aunty’s calendar, and learns that every evening at 7, she receives guests. They always go into the back room and stay for an hour. The child doesn’t know what the word “Seance” means, though.
Slowly the child begins to investigate who Aunty could be, but her own identity is the biggest mystery, and uncomfortable suspicions prompt the child´s determination to unravel the truth.
